Recorded CASE STUDY - DJ PHATZ
I have e-mailed this voice recording to my Tutor Ella. I have been having lots of trouble uploading the voice recording.
Presentation Plan
We made a scripted so that we can perform our practice presentation to Ella, here is my notes and scripted that I scripted for others.
After we performed we all got feedback from our tutor...
So then we decided how we might change the presentation for the better
Minutes from meeting Two
After achieving everything we wished to in our first meeting, we discussed all the outcomes together and find out how everyone is getting on. After this discussion we wrote these minutes for the next meeting.
Tomorrow we need to form another meeting if we get any available time during the day. The minutes of the meeting will be...
- Assess what has been brought in for the hamper and see if anything is missing. Write out invitation together. (10 mins)
- Everyone should have been on YouTube to find the play and we can discuss. Bring your performance ideas. (5 mins)
- Venue; review of pricing, what can be done about using the bar ourselves. (5 mins)
- The presentation itself; plan and allocate each part of the presentation to each group member, however budgeting will be done all together at a later date. (20 mins)
Minutes of meeting one
We had our very first meeting where we gave out jobs for the people in our group to be starting to get on with, so that we will have something to show in our practice presentation. Those jobs included - Corrina and I needed to find out how much the our venue would coat as we have chosen the venue we wanted to use in our meeting. We decided to use Plinston Hall Theatre as we know the venue very well.
We found out that we might not be able to have use of the bar area in the venue which has given us a complication as we wanted to incorporate it as part of our piece as we wanted to set it as though the audience are in the club and the people on stage are in the bathrooms.
We also decided what would be the best way to make our approach.
Here are the minutes for the next meeting...
- Bring the parts in for the bridal hamper (the approach)
- Watch the play on YouTube so everyone knows what it is about and have watched it to gain more knowledge
- Dates for the performance, Script samples for hand outs, synopsis, what we will do differently with our play to make it marketable for the target audience
- Company Name has been decided: MOD Productions
- How much will the Venue cost
Marketing
I have researched what the marketing job actually consists of so that I am informed if it comes to answering any questions about it. I have found this via http://www.tutor2u.net/business/reference/what-is-marketing
What is marketing?
There are many different definitions of marketing. Consider some of the following alternative definitions:
“The all-embracing function that links the business with customer needs and wants in order to get the right product to the right place at the right time”
“The achievement of corporate goals through meeting and exceeding customer needs better than the competition”
“The management process that identifies, anticipates and supplies customer requirements efficiently and profitably”
“Marketing may be defined as a set of human activities directed at facilitating and consummating exchanges”
Which definition is right? In short, they all are. They all try to embody the essence of marketing:
Marketing is about meeting the needs and wants of customers; Marketing is a business-wide function – it is not something that operates alone from other business activities; Marketing is about understanding customers and finding ways to provide products or services which customers demand

We first decided on a play. We are going to be doing the play 'Stags and Hens'. The play focuses on a group of girls and local lads who venture out for a night of pre-marriage stag and hen party celebrations. The action takes place in the Gents and Ladies loos of a tacky Liverpool club, Bransky's, where Dave and Linda (bride and groom-to-be) have decided, unbeknownst to each other, to hold their stag and hen parties.
Linda runs into her old boyfriend, Peter, a musician with a single climbing up the pop charts, but who is back in Liverpool on this particular night - playing a gig at Branskys.
Whilst entering the club, Dave, in a drunken stupor, becomes ill from the indian curry he ate (washed down with a copious mix of cider and Guiness) and spends the remainder of the evening (and the play) in the Gents, with his head down the lavatory bowl!
His mates, including Kas, and gang leader Eddie decide to take the law into their own hands when they suspect that Linda has developed a crush on Peter and may be having second thoughts about marrying Dave.
We then discussed this and made sure everyone was aware of what the play is about and decided that we should all go away and research the play and then come back in our next meeting with notes we had made from finding out more, that would help within our business presentation. We also realized that we would need to check if we could have the rights to put on this show for real. So we asked Samuel French by both phone and e-mail. We wanted to make sure that it was obvious that we actually had the rights so we would need written proof like the e-mail. Here is the evidence -
We were also told for our presentation we will need to make an approach to our tutor inviting her to come and watch our presentation as she will be some what of an investor who we need funding from. It has to be an interesting way to approach her other wise she wont be persuaded to come. So we have to come up with a unique invitation.
We decieded a bridal hamper would be best suited for our approach considering its about a wedding scenario. This bridal hamper will be portrayed as an invitation to the Hen Party (so as if our tutor is the bride). It will include a feather boa, L plates, a bridal sash and little veil etc. Obviously not forgetting the invitation itself.
On the invitation it needs to have the writings of -
Details of the production
Why we want to meet
request a meeting at the tutors convienece not ours
details of how tutor can get in tough with us
Addtionally we needed too allocate a production team. This list steates everyones role within the business/company -
Marketing - Saskia
Fundraising - Corrina and Daisy
Events management - KJ
Arts Administartor - Tom
As well as this we have to take part in the company meetings to keep everyone updated on the company movements and presentation. We can use means of social media to have these meetings like a group direct messenger chart or even a Skype. A couple of rules for the meetings which I had I decided then shared with the rest of the group were...
- No Phones
- Must attend unoless good reason not to
- Three strikes and you are out
- Discussions must be frequent
I made this so that everyone could be giving 100% focus within these meetings.
We decided we need to discuss our positions and how we are going to achieve an advanced level presentation in our first official meeting.
